Hi! I'm Rob, the person behind Freewheel Woodworking

I started this business as a way to build the kind of furniture I wish I could find in stores.  Too often I found myself looking at pieces that were not quite what I needed in features, were the wrong size, or were cheaply manufacturered.

My goal is to provide high quality handmade furniture at a reasonable price, along with the kind of customer service you hope for when making a purchase like this - prompt and clear communication is a big deal to me.

The foundation of everything I build starts with solid hardwood lumber, the majority of which I source from local family-owned sawmills and hardwood dealers in the Charlotte area.  Purchasing a piece of furniture from me not only supports my family and my small business, but theirs as well!

Looking to Order?

I regularly have small furniture, such as my round side tables, on my Etsy store, and occasionally other items like cutting and charcuterie boards.  Feel free to see what I have in stock here!

If you'd like a custom quote, feel free to reach out to me either directly through Etsy or contact me using the email address at the bottom of this page (my email address is formatted as such below to avoid spam, so you'll need to manually type it).   Regardless of the contact method, all sales will still be handled through Etsy - Etsy keeps my accounting books clean and easy, and gives you the extra peace of mind that the transaction is being handled through a large well-known website with purchase protection for buyers.

Custom quotes come at a non-refundable fee of $50, but if we go ahead with the project that fee will get applied to your deposit.  The quote process gives me time to discuss design with you, create a material and cut list, determine the approximate build time, and calculate all shipping costs (both packaging and carrier costs), and after the initial quote you will have the opportunity to make reasonable revisions with the scope or design.  If we proceed with the project, the deposit will be 50% of the total (minus that $50), with the remaining 50% due upon completion before your project gets shipped or delivered locally.
